Select Board approves new Charter cable license
Select Board · Meeting of September 28, 2026
Hampden Select Board approves a new 10-year cable license with Charter after a three-year negotiation. Cable counsel Bill August and Charter representative Nancy Clark detailed a new public-access fee set at 2 percent of gross cable revenue, rising to 4 percent after five years, expected to generate roughly $36,000 annually from about 1,132 subscribers. The board also split a police cruiser replacement into two warrant articles totaling roughly $130,000, approved an updated use-of-force policy ahead of a September 30 state deadline, and voted to support a revised regional school agreement with Wilbraham.
Police Chief Dan commended Reserve Officer Christopher Driscoll for recovering a loaded, concealed revolver during a March traffic stop, calling it a case presenting "a significant risk to yourselves and the public." The town's outstanding anticipation note on the police station stands at $1.45 million.
