Blandford Select Board closes Beach Hill Road for utility crane work, takes over firehouse project planning. Sergeant Frank Murphy secured unanimous approval to close the road to through traffic September 23-27, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., while Eversource clears trees too large for bucket trucks; Granville fire will cover mutual aid if needed. Chair Jacqueline Coury proposed the board itself, rather than a new committee, lead the long-stalled fire station and highway garage project ahead of a November 13 public session, saying it "holds accountability at the board level for execution." The board also heard the Water Department drew 11 applicants for a new manager and laborer position after its superintendent search stalled near two years, and that a possible $15,000 fire truck transmission repair awaits inspection results.
A $10,000 veterans fund remains unspent for lack of a program or a veterans list, Coury said, after a Westfield contact told her "that's your town's money."
