Longmeadow lands its largest-ever state grant, $5 million for road upgrades. Town Manager Lyn Simmons told the Select Board the MassWorks award will fund construction along the Williams Street, Bliss Road, Bliss Court and Redfern Drive corridor, building on a $285,000 design grant from 2024. Separately, Future Building Use Task Force Chair Paul Dunkerley asked the board to approve a feasibility study covering Community House, the former Town Hall and the police and fire stations, citing prior estimates of $5.5 million, $2.5 million and $800,000 respectively to redevelop the three buildings; a vote was deferred.
"We have to look at all of this," Dunkerley said. The board also heard the Storrs Library Board of Trustees will skip a Fall Town Meeting funding request for its $14.8 million renovation, instead pursuing Community Preservation Act funds and a roughly $2 million exterior-repair phase, with trustees pledging up to $1 million from the library's endowment.
