Select Board · Meeting of October 26, 2026
SOUTHWICK — The Southwick Select Board approved ownership transfers at two local businesses, signed off on fire apparatus bond paperwork and appointed new firefighters and animal inspectors. Attorney Matthew Porter told the board shareholder Sapna Patel is taking over an ownership stake and the president/treasurer role at Millie's Country Store, while attorney Josh Weatherwax said golf pro Nick Tamborini is buying into the Ranch Golf Club. The board voted 3-0 to set a fire engine's useful life at 20 years under state bonding law after staff said a $1 million roadway borrowing figure had mistakenly appeared in the signing packet.
The board also appointed three Westfield animal control officers, Margaret Turkelson, Tara Kuzuski and Paige Wainwright, as animal inspectors after a fire official said the town's regular officer is "out of work for about 12 weeks." David Ramon and Robert Payne were appointed as new call firefighters, each by 3-0 roll call vote.
