Westfield's adult recreational soccer club continues its long-running weekly pickup games across town fields.
WESTFIELD -- Westfield Adult Recreational Soccer, a club open to adult men and women from the surrounding area, is continuing its weekly "pickup" soccer games this season.
COMMUNITY
The club, whose average player age is approximately 35 to 40, describes its games as friendly and relaxed, prioritizing personal safety and fun over competition. According to the club, games are held every Sunday morning unless there is snow on the ground, with one evening game added each week during the summer and occasional indoor games arranged in winter.
Games rotate among several local fields, including Houlihan/Sid Fay, Kehler Athletic Stadium, Westfield High School, Clark High School and Oak Ridge Park.
The club says it has run for more than 20 years, crediting ongoing support from the Westfield Soccer Association, the Clark Soccer Club and the Town of Westfield. Prospective members are asked to attend a game and introduce themselves in person before joining the group's mailing list, and can then complete a membership form to be added.
