Southwick Park and Rec Awards $478,898 Pickleball Court Contract to Omasta Landscaping

Other Committee · Meeting of May 13, 2026

Southwick Park and Recreation Committee unanimously awards $478,898 pickleball court contract at Wally Park. The committee voted Tuesday to award the base bid plus two alternates — covering courts, a pavilion, and lighting — to Omasta Landscaping, the lowest of six bidders; Western Earthworks LLC was the high bidder at $587,789. Engineer Rob Lebeck of Lebeck Associates told the board the project had sufficient budget to fund all three components and that he saw no grounds to disqualify Omasta despite a prior coordination issue on a South Hadley pickleball project.

"They can demonstrate the capabilities and experience to complete the project," Lebeck said, citing a recommendation letter dated April 20 to Chief Administrative Officer Nicole Parker. The Select Board is expected to give final approval at its Monday meeting, with construction mobilization anticipated in mid to late June.
