Southwick Lake Board Reappoints Chair, Vice Chair
Other Committee · Meeting of September 24, 2026
Southwick Lake Management Committee reappoints its chair and vice chair and questions a $95,000 boathouse. The seven-member committee, meeting by Zoom, voted unanimously to keep Dick as chair and Malcolm DeVay as vice chair for another term. Members also confirmed a year-three commitment under the state's Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness program and heard an update from Norm Cheever on an Eversource project to automate lake weir gates along a roughly 3,000-foot underground run.
The biggest open question was a proposed boathouse for the police department's rescue boat: a $95,000 quote drew pushback over whether the force, which members said runs "three or four" officers at a time, can staff it, and a fundraising group known as the CRC, holding $100,000 to $110,000, could not reach quorum to vote on contributing and will poll members by mail instead.
