Southwick CPC continues inclusive playground review
Other Committee · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Southwick's Community Preservation Committee weighs inclusive playground, raises coalition dues. Woodland School Principal Emma Rood pitched an accessible, wheelchair-friendly playground for the district's youngest students, a project committee member Russ Fox called "a tremendous project" tied to the school's past recognition for mobility access. The committee continued the application to its October 21 meeting pending bid numbers, confirming the school district, not the town, will be the formal applicant.
Members also voted unanimously to raise annual dues to the Community Preservation Coalition to $2,875, up from $1,750, after the town's CPA surcharge revenue climbed to roughly $542,000. The panel accepted the withdrawal of a 64 Tannery Road preservation application after the land sold in January, and approved spending administrative funds on a fresh appraisal of a roughly 23-acre parcel inside the Sofonoski Preserve.
