SOUTHWICK — The Southwick Conservation Commission voted 4-0 to order a Board of Health cease-and-desist on a gray water pipe still discharging into a drainage ravine off South Longyard Road. The board cited a Board of Health letter dated July 27 that found washing-machine runoff violating wetlands rules and gave the owner 24 hours to stop use, a deadline commissioners said had already passed. "I would like us to decide tonight," one commissioner said, pushing for action over further delay.
Members Mehmet, Andy, Moore and Jerry voted aye, with the case to go to the state Department of Environmental Protection if the pipe stays uncapped. Separately, the commission issued a negative determination allowing a 41-foot seasonal dock at 13 North Pond Road on Lake Congamond, and reappointed Norm as chairman and Dennis as vice chairman for another year.
