Holyoke Bike-Ped Committee Sets May 22 Mayoral Ride, Plans Summer Events

HOLYOKE — April 8, 2026 — Holyoke's Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee confirmed May 22 for its fourth annual Mayoral Bike Ride and sketched a monthly summer events calendar running through September. The committee, meeting April 8, set Fame, a downtown restaurant, as the start and end point for the 5-to-7 p.m. Friday ride, with a budget consistent with prior years of $500 to $700 funded through Mass in Motion. Members also read aloud a same-day mayoral letter announcing reconstruction of Ray Street and Cabot Street — a 2,800-linear-foot center-city corridor expected to be completed through spring 2028 — and discussed whether the final design would include bike lanes. A proposal to add two paid youth seats to the committee, at $25 per meeting, moved toward implementation, with a meeting set for April 11 with Palante, a youth organization already working with the city's Food Policy Council and identified as a likely fiscal sponsor.
