Southwick Panel Votes 4-0 to Launch Open Space Survey

Other Committee · Meeting of October 27, 2026

SOUTHWICK — The Southwick Open Space and Recreation Plan Committee voted 4-0 to launch its community survey and keep it open through a January 2027 public visioning session. Members Connor Fleury, Dennis Clark, Bill Price and Martha Cain approved the motion after Pioneer Valley Planning Commission planner Derek Strahan presented survey revisions, including new questions on senior-center expansion, a dog park and accessible community gardens. Strahan said he could "make it go live tomorrow." The committee tentatively set Saturday, January 23, 2027 for the public visioning session, with January 30 as a snow date, pending confirmation of auditorium availability.

Members also reviewed draft open space, unique features and water resources maps, flagging a missing Woodland Ridge parcel and a conservation-restricted historical society property shown without protection status, and discussed a roughly five-million-dollar option for a North Pond flood-control outlet.
