EAST LONGMEADOW — February 11, 2026 — East Longmeadow Conservation Commission approves Blackman Pond dredging project and orders wetland restoration at Vinland Avenue. The commission voted unanimously Wednesday to approve Notice of Intent 2025-02, covering sediment removal and park improvements at Blackman Pond at 391 North Main Street, with a special condition requiring the town to submit a fertilizer management plan before any work begins; a Berkier Design Group engineer appearing on behalf of the town secured the approval on the project's third hearing appearance. The board also directed a homeowner at 30 Vinland Avenue to hire a licensed wetlands consultant to extract tree debris from Pecousic Brook by crane, stabilize the eroding stream bank, oversee replanting, and assess stormwater discharge from recently extended gutters — all after contractor work tied to storm-damaged trees resulted in debris being felled directly into the waterway. "Just because you didn't know doesn't mean we can't fix it going forward," one member told the homeowner. Commission staff will draft an amended enforcement order with binding deadlines for the February 25 meeting.
