Westfield Youth Hockey closes the books on a title-winning 2025-2026 season while adult soccer players keep the pickup games going through the summer.

WESTFIELD -- Westfield sports news was light for the week of July 13-19, with area programs mostly in their summer routines.

YOUTH LEAGUES -- Westfield Youth Hockey Association is highlighting hardware from its 2025-2026 season, including a Lake Placid tournament championship and a Greater Springfield League Squirt B championship, according to the WYHA website. The club plays in the Greater Springfield League alongside programs such as Amherst Hockey Association, Holy Name Hockey, Ludlow Hockey Association and the Pioneer Valley Youth Hockey Association, and its website noted the team's Jr. Bomber merchandise is available through a partnership with Team Threadworks at the Olympia.

COMMUNITY -- Westfield Adult Recreational Soccer continues its long-running pickup games for adult men and women from the surrounding area, according to the club's website. The group, whose average age is roughly 35-40, plays every Sunday morning "unless there is snow on the ground," and adds a weekday evening game during the summer. Games rotate among area fields including Houlihan/Sid Fay, Kehler Athletic Stadium, Westfield High School, Clark High School and Oak Ridge Park. The club credits over 20 years of continued play to support from the Westfield Soccer Association, the Clark Soccer Club and the Town of Westfield. New players are asked to attend a game and introduce themselves before joining the group's mailing list.
