Westfield's longtime adult pickup soccer club continues its weekly games on town and school fields as the summer season rolls on.
WESTFIELD -- Westfield Adult Recreational Soccer, a club for adult men and women from the surrounding area, is continuing its tradition of weekly "pick-up" games, according to the group's website.
COMMUNITY -- The club, which says its average player age is approximately 35-40, plays every Sunday unless there is snow on the ground, and during the summer typically adds one weeknight game as well. The group says it has kept up the tradition for "over 20 years," crediting support from the Westfield Soccer Association, the Clark Soccer Club and the Town of Westfield. Games are held at fields including Houlihan/Sid Fay, Kehler Athletic Stadium, Westfield High School, Clark High School and Oak Ridge Park. The club says it prioritizes fun over competition and asks prospective new players to attend a game and introduce themselves before joining the group's mailing list.
