Southwick's Council on Aging elected Elaine as its new chairperson in its annual reorganization vote. The board confirmed Carol as co-chair and Donna Foise as secretary in a 4-0 roll call. Staff told the board the front-desk position formerly held by an employee named Kara was cut from 20 hours to 15 hours weekly, with duties split between new hire Evelina and a Medicare counselor, Fran, who is paid by insurance companies rather than the town and has already helped nearly 40 clients.
A council staff member said a Select Board member, Mr. Didi, objected to a grant-funded hallway carpet purchase, prompting the response that "the money's not coming out of the town money." Members also approved buying two $150 mahjong sets and adjourned 5-0 at 1:19 p.m.
