School Committee · Meeting of May 21, 2026

SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield School Committee voted to enter executive session to discuss strategy for talks with the Technical Employees Association. Vice Chair Naylor made the motion under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 30A, Section 21(a)(3), saying an open meeting "may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining position of the public body." Members Valentin, Crawford, Hurst, Gresham, Naylor and Sarno voted yes, 6-0, with Mr. Gomez absent. The committee opened with a moment of silence for Assistant Superintendent Terry Poe's father.

After the closed session, the same six members voted again, 6-0, to return to open regular session.
