School Committee · Meeting of October 13, 2026
Agawam residents pressed the School Committee to revive a lapsed immigration-response policy past its state deadline. Yuta Enyama and Christine Rickman used citizen speak time to demand the committee readopt Policy ACL under the state's Protect Act, which required adoption by September 1; Enyama said five members reversed an earlier 7-0 vote "without this policy" ever explained, asking "what changed?" Rickman countered that the policy would not open school doors to anyone, saying "staff are not asked to confront anyone." No vote on the policy occurred. Separately, the committee honored Cipelli Elementary and Granger School as 2026 DESE Schools of Recognition, with Cipelli's accountability score rising from 17 percent to 65 percent and Granger's from 50 percent to 88 percent.
Members also approved two warrants totaling $553,952.61 by a 7-0 vote.
