Holyoke CPA Committee Approves Nearly $672,000 for Six City Projects

Holyoke's Community Preservation Act Committee recommended full funding for all six projects on its April 8 agenda, awarding $671,960 to be sent to the city council for final approval. The largest award, $200,000, went to the Scott Tower restoration at Anniversary Hill Park; the committee also approved $100,000 for a City Hall granite stairs study, $225,000 for window replacement at the Holyoke Health Center Childs Building at 275 High Street, $65,000 for the Wisteriahurst Museum Butler's Pantry, $31,960 for Holyoke Merry-Go-Round horse restoration, and $50,000 for Neighbor to Neighbor Community Garden infrastructure. Five of the six votes were unanimous; committee member Michael Falsetti cast the lone dissent on the community garden award, saying he would not support the project until the city solicitor produced written contract language barring salary payments from the CPA funds.

The committee entered the evening with $762,946 available after setting aside state-mandated affordable-housing reserves and administrative costs from a total budget of $919,112.
