East Longmeadow Board of Health Cancels July Meeting, Schedules August 27 Session

EAST LONGMEADOW — June 17, 2026 — East Longmeadow Board of Health skips July meeting and schedules return for August 27. The three-member board — Chair Christine Johnston, Dr. Katie Javins, and Rebecca Torsha — voted 3-0 to approve May minutes and 3-0 to adjourn, with no other formal action taken at the June 17 Zoom session. Health Director Tammy reported that the Common Ground Health Collaborative has engaged an outside public health consultant to help spend down grant funds before the June 30 fiscal-year deadline and to lead strategic planning; intergovernmental agreements with partner communities remain unsigned, delaying staff hiring until at least August. Temporary food-service permits have hit a record high for June, driven by SummerFest, the farmers market, food truck Fridays, and a split carnival week. Residents should note that the August 22 household hazardous waste collection requires advance registration and is capped at roughly 150 vehicles; the Green Team e-recycling event at Mountain View runs Saturday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with no registration needed.
