City Council · Meeting of June 1, 2026

AGAWAM — The Agawam City Council tabled its fiscal year 2027 budget vote after no residents spoke at the public hearing. Council President Anthony J. Russo closed the hearing and the council voted 11-0 to push the final decision to its next meeting, giving residents "two more weeks to reach in ask those questions." Councilors also gave 11-0 first-reading approval to an ordinance adding an alternate member to the three-seat License Commission, a change Councilor George Bitzas called "a no-brainer" for preventing deadlock-driven licensing delays. Finance Committee Chairman Dino R. Mercadante reported three unanimous budget transfers totaling $234,906, covering electricity and heat costs, a solar purchase account shortfall, and postage and printing.

Councilor Robert E. Rossi flagged a date error in a pending Class II dealer's license for A&V Auto LLC and asked for missing application paperwork before it reaches his committee.
