EAST LONGMEADOW — May 18, 2026 — East Longmeadow Zoning Board accepts withdrawal of Prospect Street variance petition in three-minute meeting. The board voted 4-0 Monday to accept, without prejudice, the withdrawal of Case ZV-2025-03, a petition by West Springfield applicant Jeffrey R. Mitchell seeking relief from minimum lot area requirements to build a single-family home at 0 Prospect Street in the Residence AA district. The withdrawal came after Mitchell's engineering firm, R. Levesque Associates, wrote that "the layout as currently proposed is not viable" following coordination with Eversource, which raised concerns about the site design. Chair Mark Beglane explained the stakes before the vote: a with-prejudice dismissal would bar Mitchell from reapplying for two years, while the without-prejudice acceptance allows a revised proposal at any time. Members Daniel Plotkin, Francis Dean, James Channing, and Beglane voted yes; Vice Chair Charles Gray was absent.
