Southwick Planning Board Closes Marina Hearing, Advances Four Additional Slips

Southwick's Planning Board unanimously closed the public hearing on a four-slip marina expansion at 141 Congamond Road and is set to vote on a decision at its March 10 meeting. Applicant Kenneth Eggleston told the board he holds two surplus parking spaces beyond his 60-space requirement and proposes converting each into two additional rental slips, growing his marina from 20 to 24 slips. A letter from DPW Director Richard Fozak raised no objection to the reallocation but flagged a visible waste enclosure violation, and Fire Chief Stefanoitz asked that the existing truck loading area be dual-marked as a fire lane, a solution Eggleston's engineer had already endorsed in a February 17 letter read into the record by Chair Jessica Thornton.

The board also voted unanimously to clear a 72-tree removal and trimming project on Gloss Anderson Road, a designated scenic road, and closed out a master plan action item that had floated the idea of a development moratorium, with Thornton saying the board's energy is better spent on the ongoing Pioneer Valley Planning Commission zoning rewrite.
