Board of Health · Meeting of October 6, 2026
Southwick's Board of Health set an October 20 hearing on a septic variance for a marijuana cultivation facility after the applicant missed the abutter-notice deadline. Pioneer Valley Trading Commission wants a septic system rather than a roughly 1,000-foot sewer extension at 34 Granville Road; Kaylin Simons said connecting to sewer would be "incredibly expensive." The board also heard that New Main Moon restaurant, under a mandated food-safety consultant for three months, is down to three minor violations from a prior run of "20 something." Consultant Del Sun Lee cited "cultural differences" slowing full compliance. Separately, Chair Terry Putnam said the board has gotten no response after asking town officials to include it in a planning board bylaw on battery storage siting, saying there was "no mention of having a round table with conservation, with Board of Health... with fire."
