Hampden Planning Board Continues Salmar Realty Hearing, Sets Summer Schedule

HAMPDEN — May 27, 2026 — Hampden Planning Board continued its most active special permit case and mapped a three-meeting summer calendar at its May 27 session. The board voted unanimously to push Case 2026A — a dual application by Salmar Realty, LLC, for restaurant and retail special permits at 2 Summers Road — to June 24, after engineer John Masuck of R. Levesque Associates told the board that traffic concerns raised by the highway superintendent remained unresolved and that peer-review consultant Bowman and the applicant's engineers were still at odds. The board also unanimously approved a home occupation permit for Mason Lewis to operate Bridge Line Plumbing and Heating from 4 Mount Vision Road, and calendared a July 22 public hearing for a proposed laser aesthetics clinic called Velour Laser Aesthetics. The board set August 12 for a public hearing on deleting Section 4.3.2 of the zoning bylaw, a provision members said has long prevented the Zoning Board of Appeals from exercising full discretion in non-conforming setback cases, and elected Pat Coint as Chair by unanimous vote.
